If you call God “God,” you speak truthfully. If you call Him “Lord,” you speak submissively. If you call Him “King,” you speak servilely.
But if you dare to call God “my Father”?
That takes a brassy audacity—a level of pure boldness that feels shockingly, almost uncomfortably intimate.
Think about it. You dare to call the Master of the Universe “Father”? The One who commands the stars, controls heaven and hell, and holds existence together by the power of His voice… Dad? It is difficult to imagine a more audacious act than to stand before the Creator of the world and address Him with the familiarity of a child.
And yet, to not only say it, but to actually mean it—and to speak to Him the way a child speaks to a loving, doting parent—is exhilarating. It’s beautiful beyond words.
Moving Into the House
Here is the beautiful secret: this intimacy isn’t a brassy boldness we have to manufacture. It isn’t a false confidence gained by swallowing a bottle of liquid spiritual courage.
To call God “Father” is simply to live in the space that Jesus created for us.
It means packing up and moving. We are no longer residing far from Him as an enemy, or across town as a stranger. We aren’t even down the street as an acquaintance, or living in the servants’ quarters.
We have moved into our own bedroom as a child in His family.
Imagine waking up in the morning, walking into the kitchen, and seeing the Creator of the universe sipping a cup of coffee. He looks up, smiles, and says, “Good morning, my child.” And without a hint of fear, you respond, “Good morning, Father.”
Home Forever
When we inhabit the room built for us by Jesus, we aren’t just visiting a Ruler or a Judge. We are living with the One who has given us His name, claimed us as His own, and welcomed us into His home now and forever.
”Our Father.” Two of the most amazing, world-changing words ever uttered.
